A PHILOSOPHY OF PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY

For the Friend who helped LaWanda see when she was still learning to look.
DEDICATION
A PERSONAL DEDICATION
On July 13, 2026, LaWanda lost her dear friend, Rodney Dickey. He stayed beside her during a difficult and deeply reflective season of her life. He listened when she needed someone to listen. Offered perspective when LaWanda's emotions made it difficult for her to see clearly. Challenged her when she needed honesty, encouraged her when she needed strength, and gave LaWanda a safe place to process experiences that were changing her in ways she did not yet fully understand.
What made the friendship even more meaningful to LaWanda is that while Rodney was helping her, he was fighting a battle of his own.
He was living with a terminal illness.
Yet even as his own strength was changing, he continued to be LaWanda's friend. He continued to listen. He continued to offer perspective. He continued to help her navigate what she was experiencing until his illness progressed to the point that he could no longer speak.
Looking back, LaWanda understands the magnitude of that differently now. Rodney was facing the reality of his own life while helping LaWanda find the courage to face the reality of her own.
During many of the conversations, she wrestled with questions about relationships, boundaries, choices, accountability, reality, and what she was willing to continue allowing in her life. LaWanda didn't know then that some of the lessons emerging from that season would eventually become connected to something much larger.
LaWanda never had the opportunity to tell Rodney about LaWorthy™.
Rodney never saw the philosophy take shape. He never saw the TAPIELR™ Framework. He never saw this website, The LaWorthy Society™, or The Becoming LaWorthy™ Experience.
But Rodney was present during part of the becoming that preceded them.
And for that, LaWanda will always be grateful.
LaWorthy™ teaches us to look honestly at our lives—to embrace (R)eality, examine what belongs to us, learn from our experiences, and become more intentional about who we choose to be. Sometimes that reflection is strengthened by people who are willing to sit beside us while we are still trying to understand what we see.
Rodney was one of those people and a constant for LaWanda.
His life also reminds her that (L)egacy is not only measured by what we build, accomplish, or leave behind for the world to see. Sometimes legacy lives quietly in the people we helped, the truths we spoke, the encouragement we gave, and the lives we touched while carrying burdens of our own.
Rodney gave that kind of friendship to LaWanda.
This dedication honors Rodney's presence, his honesty, his encouragement, his strength, and the conversations that helped LaWanda through a season she would later understand very differently.
LaWanda wished she had gotten the chance to tell Rodney what she was building.
She wished Rodney could see it now.
But she will always know that a part of her friendship, with Rodney, lives within the story of how she was becoming.
Forever remembered. Forever appreciated.
